1. Historical Artifact Preservation & Curation
What We Do: Our team actively acquires, restores, and preserves unusual historical artifacts and forgotten cultural pieces. We handle the archival care of fragile objects to ensure they survive for future generations to study.
Community Impact: We keep history accessible by keeping these items on public display, offering an alternative educational resource outside of traditional textbook learning.
2. Living History & Historical Arts Workshops
What We Do: We host educational workshops that teach the public about forgotten trades and early technological processes, such as our historic Tin Type Portrait sessions.
Community Impact: Visitors gain hands-on knowledge of 19th-century photographic chemistry and arts, keeping historic craftsmanship alive in the modern era.
3. Local Art & Cultural Exhibitions
What We Do: We partner with local grassroots arts organizations, such as the Atlanta Collage Collective, to provide gallery space for local creators and community-led art initiatives.
Community Impact: This program provides affordable exhibition spaces for Atlanta-area artists while offering the public free or low-cost access to contemporary community art.
SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY
Giving back is an important part of our mission. The Oddities Museum has proudly supported and collaborated with a variety of local nonprofits, community organizations, artists, and charitable causes, including groups working in animal welfare and conservation, the arts, community assistance, and local cultural programming.
Whether through fundraising, donations, collaborative events, cross-promotion, or providing a space where organizations can connect directly with the public, we are always looking for ways to use the museum to support the people doing meaningful work around us.
Our community partnerships have included organizations such as the Georgia Reptile Society, Atlanta Mission, River Arts District Artists, Odd Paws, and other independent artists, performers, and community groups. We believe the unusual can bring people together—and that our platform is strongest when we use it to help amplify the work of others.
CREATING A SPACE FOR COMMUNITY
The museum also serves as a gathering place for Atlanta’s creative and alternative communities. Throughout the year, we host and collaborate on art exhibitions, adoption events, live music, performances, artist
meet-ups, educational programming, and special events that give local organizations and creators a place to share what they do.
From reptile adoption events and Atlanta Collage Collective meet-ups to live performances, puppet exhibitions, film-related programming, and our recurring Night at the Museum events, our goal is to make the museum a space where people can discover something new—and discover each other.
These events allow us to support local artists and organizations while creating experiences that extend beyond a traditional museum visit. By opening our gallery and event spaces to the wider community, we hope to encourage collaboration, creativity, education, and connection throughout Atlanta.
